Epoxy resin, both an industrial jewel and a partner to natural wood

Epoxy resin, an ally of wood

In many workshops, epoxy resin has become indispensable. Everyone finds their own area of expression, whether in jewelry, decoration, or river tables. This triumph is positive: it has paved the way for creativity and the democratization of a material that is both technical and captivating.
Beyond its aesthetic effects, epoxy can also be used to adopt another perspective: that of respecting the material.

The reasoned use: a dialogue between wood and resin

In my workshop, epoxy is not an end in itself. It is a tool. A way to give a second life to wood that others would have discarded.
A cracked plate, a broken knot, a twisted fiber: rather than erasing these “defects,” I highlight them. The resin fills, supports, and complements the material.
Once assembled, the board becomes a whole, solid, balanced piece. The contrast between the raw wood and the controlled transparency of the epoxy creates nuances that no single, perfect wood species could offer.

    Techniques and constraints

Working with resin requires rigor and precision.
Every parameter counts: the quality of the products used, the cleanliness of the surface, the ambient temperature and adherence to mixing ratios.
A successful casting relies on a harmony between these factors. Too hot or too cold, too much or too little hardener: the reaction changes, sometimes even altering the color or the strength of the result.

It is a work of care, where a slow and deliberate gesture is better than haste. Once mastered, this technical requirement becomes an asset, offering a clean, deep and lasting result.

    A material philosophy

Epoxy doesn't replace anything. It complements it.
It connects what is split, links what seemed lost, and brings to light what the wood was hiding.
Working in this way means accepting imperfection as a starting point, and transforming it into a strength.
