This chess set combines a marquetry board, an American-walnut frame and polished and frosted glass pieces. The contrast between the two glass finishes distinguishes the sides without adding artificial colour.
The work depends on the precision of the veneers, the alignment of the squares and the finish of the frame. The glass pieces provide a more mineral feel and a different presence from a conventional wooden or plastic set.
